This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Workybooks.com and DigiXL Inc. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the KNOVA mobile application ("App"). KNOVA is an educational reading app developed by DigiXL Inc., the team behind Workybooks.com.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy explains our data practices and your rights regarding any information associated with your use of the App.

By using KNOVA, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

2. Our Privacy-First Approach

KNOVA is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here are the key aspects of our approach:

  • No Online Accounts: KNOVA does not require online account creation. All user profiles are created and stored locally on your device.
  • Local Data Storage: Your browsing history, reading progress, and activity logs are saved locally on your device only. We do not store this data on our servers.
  • No Personal Information Collection: We do not collect personally identifiable information during profile creation or normal app usage.
  • iCloud Sync (Optional): Profile information syncs through your iCloud account to allow access across your Apple devices. This is managed entirely by Apple.

How to Delete Your Profile

Local profiles can be deleted at any time by following these steps:

  1. Tap the Profile Icon on the top right of the screen
  2. From the sidebar, select "Manage Profiles"
  3. Tap the Pencil icon on any profile to edit it
  4. Select "Delete Profile" from the Edit Profile screen

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

Support and Feedback: If you choose to contact us through the in-app support or feedback form, you may voluntarily provide your email address. This email is stored in our support database solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.

Profile Information: Profile information (such as display name and preferences) is stored locally on your device and optionally synced via your iCloud account. We do not have access to this information.

3.2 Automatically Collected Information

We use analytics services to understand how the App is used and to improve our service. The following anonymous usage data may be collected:

  • Device type, operating system, and version
  • App version
  • General usage patterns (screens visited, features used)
  • Crash reports and performance data
  • General location (country/region level only)

This data is collected in aggregate form and cannot be used to identify you personally.

4. Third-Party Services

KNOVA uses the following third-party services:

4.1 Analytics

  • Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics: Used to collect anonymous usage statistics to help us understand how the App is used and to improve user experience. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

4.2 Advertising in KNOVA

We display advertisements in our mobile app using Google AdMob. This section explains how advertising works and how we protect children's privacy.

4.2.1 COPPA Compliance for Advertising

Our app is designed for children and families. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in our advertising practices.

For Child Profiles:

  • We request only non-personalized ads - no behavioral targeting or tracking
  • Ads are tagged for child-directed treatment under COPPA
  • Ad content is restricted to G-rated (family-safe) content only
  • No personal data is collected or shared for advertising purposes
  • We do not allow interest-based advertising for children

For Adult Profiles:

  • Adults may receive personalized ads based on their interests
  • Ad content is restricted to T-rated (teen-appropriate) or below
  • Adults can opt out of personalized advertising through their device settings

4.2.2 Information Collected by Advertising Partners

For Children (Non-Personalized Ads):

When serving non-personalized ads to children, only the following non-identifying information may be collected:

  • Device type and operating system
  • General location (country/region level only)
  • App usage context (which screen the ad appears on)

For Adults (Personalized Ads):

When personalized ads are enabled for adult profiles, the following information may be collected:

  • Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
  • Device and browser information
  • Interests inferred from app usage and other apps
  • Approximate location

4.2.3 Third-Party Advertising Partner

We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements. Google's privacy policy applies to the collection and use of data for advertising purposes. For more information, see:

4.2.4 Advertising Data Retention

  • For Children: No advertising-related data is retained or stored
  • For Adults: Advertising identifiers may be retained by Google according to their data retention policies

5. Children's Privacy

KNOVA is designed for use by learners of all ages, including children. We take children's privacy seriously and are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

5.1 Age Requirements

Only individuals 18 years of age or older are authorized to create profiles or subscribe to KNOVA. Parents and guardians may create profiles for their children to use under their supervision.

5.2 No Personal Information from Children

We do not collect personally identifiable information from children. All profile data and activity logs are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted to our servers. Child profiles receive only non-personalized advertisements with no tracking or behavioral targeting.

5.3 Parental Controls

Parents maintain full control over their children's profiles and can delete profile data at any time by removing the profile from the App or uninstalling the App from the device.

6. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • To provide the service: Delivering educational content and app functionality
  • To improve the App: Understanding usage patterns to enhance features and user experience
  • To respond to inquiries: Using contact information provided through support forms to address your questions or concerns
  • To display advertisements: Showing relevant ads in the free version of the App
  • To ensure stability: Monitoring app performance and fixing technical issues

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With third-party analytics and advertising partners (Google Analytics, Firebase, AdMob) as described in this Policy
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to users
  • Protection of Rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of DigiXL Inc., our users, or others

8. Data Retention

Local Data: Profile data and activity logs stored on your device remain until you delete the profile or uninstall the App.

Support Inquiries: Email addresses provided through support forms are retained for the duration needed to resolve your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes.

Analytics Data: Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policies, typically for 14-26 months.

iCloud Data: Profile data synced to your iCloud account is managed by Apple and is subject to Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. You can manage or delete this data through your iCloud settings.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Since most of your data is stored locally on your device, you maintain primary control over its security. We recommend using device-level security features such as passcodes, biometric authentication, and encryption.

10. Your Rights and Choices

10.1 Access and Deletion

Since your profile data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can view, modify, or delete your profiles directly within the App.

10.2 Opt-Out of Personalized Ads

On iOS:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Privacy & Security
  3. Tap Apple Advertising
  4. Toggle off "Personalized Ads"

On Android:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Google
  3. Tap Ads
  4. Toggle on "Opt out of Ads Personalization"

10.3 Disable Analytics

You can limit analytics collection by adjusting your device's privacy settings or by opting out through Google's settings.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to request deletion of personal information
  • Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
