"Look over there!" said Luis, pointing to the riverbank. A sleek otter had just slid into the water with a splash.
"Nice spotting!" Dad replied. "Let's see if he comes back up."
They waited silently for a few minutes, then two otter pups popped up, whirling and diving as they played. "Aww, baby otters! I think that's their mom watching them," said Luis.
Dad nodded, "Yeah, otters stay with their family as the pups grow up. They have to teach them to hunt fish and catch food in the water."
Luis watched the otters twist and chase each other, their slick brown fur shining. "I love otters. I wish I could swim and play all day like they do!" he said with a smile.
