The Lost Puppy
One afternoon, Emma heard a soft whine outside her window. She looked out and saw a tiny puppy sitting by the fence. “You must be lost,” she said softly. Emma knew she should help the puppy, but she couldn't keep it without asking her parents first.
She ran inside and said, “Mom, I found a puppy! May I bring it inside?” Her mom smiled and replied, “You may, but we must find its owner.” Emma carefully carried the puppy inside and gave it some water. She knew she should check for a collar, but there wasn’t one.
The next day, Emma and her mom put up posters around the neighborhood. “Someone must be looking for this puppy,” Emma said. Sure enough, a little boy came by that evening. “Thank you! You must be very kind,” he said. Emma smiled, happy she could help.
