What is a Wind Farm?

A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location that work together to harvest wind energy and convert it into electricity. Think of it like a farm, but instead of growing crops, it "grows" clean energy!

Wind turbines are tall towers with large blades that spin when the wind blows. These turbines are often grouped together in windy locations to create a wind farm. Some wind farms are on land, while others are built offshore in oceans or large lakes.

How Wind Farms Work

Wind farms convert the kinetic energy of moving air into electrical energy through a series of mechanical and electrical processes:

Modern wind turbines are sophisticated machines. Most have three blades and can rotate to face the wind direction. The electricity they produce is clean and renewable, meaning it doesn't create air pollution or contribute to climate change like burning fossil fuels does.
