About this worksheet
Habitat Detectives puts your third graders on the case! Using temperature and rainfall data, students figure out which animal lives in each mystery place—and discover how an animal's home is shaped by its climate.
In Step 1, students color a bar graph of the temperature for three places (the rainfall is given in the data table). In Step 2, they answer data questions (hottest? coldest? wettest?), then use the climate clues to match a camel, a toucan, and a polar bear to their correct homes with a word bank. A “Detective's Conclusion” asks them to explain one animal's home using the data.
This no-prep printable supports NGSS 3-ESS2-2 (comparing the climates of different regions) and reinforces scaled bar graphs (CCSS Math 3.MD.B.3), with a natural link to animals and their habitats.
