Voting and Elections

Help your third graders learn how their government works, one clear page at a time! In this one-page worksheet, students read a short passage about how voting works, number the four steps of voting in order, then read a tally chart from a class vote and answer two questions about it.

The passage walks through an election in order: learn about the choices, mark a ballot, put it in the ballot box, count the votes. It defines majority rule as more than half of the votes. The tally chart shows a class vote on a game, 13 votes to 8, so kids see majority rule in action and get a little math practice reading tallies and finding how many more.
