About this reader
The Desert Jerboa is a small rodent that thrives in the desert environment. It has long back legs that enable it to jump high and far, resembling a tiny kangaroo. The jerboa uses its long tail for balance and has large ears that help it hear well and regulate body temperature. It feeds on plants and insects and is nocturnal, coming out at night to avoid the extreme heat. During the day, it stays in burrows to stay cool. The Desert Jerboa's unique adaptations make it a fascinating creature of the desert.
