Continents and Oceans

Give your third graders a quick, clear introduction to the continents and oceans! This one-page reading worksheet covers the big ideas students need before they label a world map: what an ocean is, what a continent is, and how many of each our Earth has.

Students read a short, kid-friendly passage that names all seven continents and explains that Earth has five oceans. They learn that the Pacific is the biggest ocean, Asia is the biggest continent, Antarctica is covered in ice near the South Pole, and the United States is on the continent of North America.
