Leaders at Each Level of Government

Help your third graders learn who leads each level of government! In this one-page worksheet, students read a short passage about the mayor, the governor, and the President, sort six everyday problems by which leader should help, then fill in four blanks with a word bank.

The passage explains that each level of government has its own leader. The mayor leads a city or town and works on local problems. The governor leads a state, takes care of state parks, and helps after big storms. The President leads the whole country, works with other countries, and cares for national parks. Students also learn that all three leaders are elected, or chosen by voters. The sort turns this into a real-life task: students write each letter in a table with two boxes under each leader, so they know exactly how many go in each column.
