Reading in Science: Changes of State

One passage for each of the six changes of state - melting, freezing, evaporation/vaporization, condensation, sublimation, and deposition - each targeting a different reading-comprehension skill. Every card names the change, shows its direction (solid to liquid, gas to solid, and so on), tells whether energy is added or removed, and gives a real example students have seen. The organizing idea runs through all six: adding energy moves matter toward a gas; removing energy moves it toward a solid.
