Penguin Chatter

"I wish it was winter already," said Lucy. "Why's that?" asked her teacher Mr. Davis. Lucy replied, "Because winter means fun penguins! Do we have penguins here, Mr. Davis?" Laughing, the teacher said "No, penguins live far away. Most live way down south in Antarctica where it's very cold." Surprised, Lucy wondered aloud "How do penguins stay warm in freezing cold temperatures?" Mr. Davis explained "They have thick feathers packed tightly together so only their flippers and faces are exposed. They huddle closely in large groups which helps keep them warm too." Lucy asked another question: "I see two kinds of penguins - little black and white ones and big black and white ones. Why do they look different?" "Great question! The little blue ones are called fairy penguins while the large black and white ones are emperors - the biggest of all penguins, as tall as a person!" said Mr. Davis.
