America 250 Star Field

Fill the sky with stars! In America 250 Star Field, the left half of an 8×8 grid is scattered with small red and blue diamond stars, divided by a dashed line of symmetry. Students reflect each star to the right half, and the field doubles into a balanced display for America's 250th birthday, 1776 to 2026.

Because the stars sit in different spots, students must track position carefully while matching color and shape. The stars that touch the center line open into sparkling shapes as they are completed, giving a satisfying payoff. Every star is built from diagonal half-squares, so reflecting orientation is part of the challenge.
