Guess the State: The Northeast Region (Part 2)

Turn your Northeast region lesson into a fun state guessing game! In this one-page worksheet, third graders read short "I am..." riddles, find each mystery state on a real map, circle its name, and write it on the line. This is Part 2 of 3, and the three parts together cover all 11 states in the Northeast region.

The riddles in Part 2 are for Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Each riddle gives three short clues. Most clues use the map and directions, like "Massachusetts is to my north" or "Pennsylvania is to my south", so students practice reading a map with cardinal directions. The last clue is a fun fact, like the smallest state or the Statue of Liberty, that helps the state stick in their memory. Students choose from three state names, and the wrong choices are real neighbors, so they have to check the map.
