Ancient Evidence

This NGSS-aligned word sort activity focuses on different types of fossil evidence found in the geological record. Students sort 12 different fossil examples into two categories: Body Fossils and Trace Fossils. The activity helps students understand the distinction between preserved body parts and preserved evidence of ancient organism activities. Through this classification exercise, students learn how different types of fossils provide unique information about prehistoric life and ancient environments.
