About This Reader
This passage addresses pattern recognition through wave observation. Students learn to count and predict wave patterns, developing mathematical thinking skills while observing natural phenomena at the beach.
Timo studied the beach waves. They came in sets of three big waves, then two small ones. He counted: "Big, big, big, small, small" over and over. This pattern helped him know when to jump waves while swimming.
How many big waves came in each set?
