The human eye is an amazing organ that lets us see the world around us. In many ways, your eye works a lot like a camera. Both use light to create pictures.

Light enters the eye through a small opening called the pupil. The pupil gets bigger or smaller to let in the right amount of light. After the light enters, it passes through the lens. The lens bends, or focuses, the light so that a clear image forms inside your eye.

This image is made on a special part at the back of your eye called the retina. The retina is like a movie screen that collects the light and turns it into signals. These signals travel through the optic nerve to your brain. Your brain then tells you what you are seeing.

A camera works in a very similar way. It has a part called a lens that also focuses light. The light creates a picture on the camera's film or sensor, just like the retina in your eye. The camera's opening, called the aperture, is like the pupil. It controls how much light comes in.

For example, when you take a photo in bright sunlight, the camera and your eye both make the opening smaller so the picture is not too bright. When it's dark, the openings get bigger to let in more light.

Without the parts of the eye working together, you would not be able to see clearly. Glasses help some people focus light better, just like changing the lens on a camera makes pictures sharper.
