Hatshepsut was one of ancient Egypt’s most influential rulers, becoming pharaoh in 1479 BCE during the New Kingdom period. Unlike most pharaohs, Hatshepsut was a woman, yet she ruled for over twenty years as Egypt’s official monarch.
